Levi’s World Famous Unleavened French Toast Sticks
Dip. Dunk. Devour.
Shalom, Mishpacha!
Our adult son, “Joined,” loves these French toast sticks. Thus, they’ve turned into a yearly tradition in our home.
The recipe is simple, but it’s just enough to keep that sweet tooth satisfied during Hag HaMatzot, when most of the fluff of bread has been set aside.
Yes, we still make plenty of dishes with traditional matzot… and yes, we’ve done the classic “dip-the-matzah-and-fry-it” method (already this week, in fact).
But let’s be honest, it’s just not the same.
So we decided to do better. 😏
✨ French Toast Sticks that are made to be dipped, dunked… and devoured.
Ingredients:
Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon avocado oil or light olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
- Butter (for spreading)
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon sugar
- Confectioner’s sugar (for dusting)
Directions
- Mix all the batter ingredients until smooth.
- Spread the batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, shaping it roughly to the size of two slices of bread.
- Bake at 425°F for 10–15 minutes, until set.
- Remove from oven, spread the top with butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon sugar.
- Return to the oven at 350°F and bake until the top is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
- Remove, cut into sticks, and finish with a dusting of confectioner’s sugar.
Serve warm, either as is or dunked into your favorite syrup.
